Introduction to Shiatsu
The 2 day Shiatsu Weekend Workshop is an excellent introduction to gain an understanding of Shiatsu, with a 'hands-on' approach to treating the body from an Oriental perspective.
The workshop explores different styles of Shiatsu, including Zen Shiatsu, together with an introduction to the meridian system of Traditional Japanese and Chinese Medicine.
For those who would prefer to study Shiatsu, without the commitment to a Professional Qualification, we offer individual units which are part of the Diploma of Shiatsu & Oriental Therapies:
Shiatsu Sequence Unit - looks at the basic principles of shiatsu and its uses and contraindications. You will learn three different styles and simple treatment sequences, giving you confidence and grounding so that you can give a relaxing and effective treatment.
Meridian Therapy Unit - introduces you to the twelve classic meridians, the major Tsubo points and the meridian functions according to Oriental physiology and theory of Ki movement.
Zen Shiatsu Unit - students learn how to apply the principles and practice of Shitzuto Masunaga to a shiatsu treatment. Hara diagnosis will be introduced and the extended meridian system's relationship to the classical meridian system will be studied.
All of these units form part of the Diploma of Shiatsu and Oriental Therapies and for those students who wish to study further they can enrol in the Diploma.
